Electronic Hardware Engineer, North American Products
Position Summary:
Our client is a premier chassis supplier that designs and manufactures brake and suspension systems for the global transportation market. We are seeking a skilled Hardware / Embedded Hardware Engineer to support the design, development, and validation of electronic hardware systems used in advanced suspension and braking technologies. This role will work cross-functionally with software, systems, and manufacturing teams to deliver high-performance automotive electronic solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and sensor electronic hardware design process which includes:
- Design and development of embedded control systems
- Creation and maintenance of electrical hardware designs for ECUs and vehicle motion sensors
- Perform design analysis, verification, and testing to ensure compliance with technical and functional requirements
- Interface with component suppliers to ensure selected parts meet performance, quality, and cost targets
- Ensure ECU and sensor designs are optimized for manufacturability and assembly processes
- Support functional safety deliverables in accordance with ISO 26262 Part 5
- Identify, manage, and resolve electrical design issues throughout the product lifecycle
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of global automotive standards and industry best practices
- Balance customer requirements with internal business objectives and constraints
- Align engineering resources effectively to support product development priorities
- Collaborate with BWI’s Global Suspension team to align hardware design strategies and initiatives across multiple sites (Brighton, China, Paris, Dayton, and Krakow)
- Partner with cross-functional staff engineering disciplines to ensure alignment of hardware development activities and deliverables
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (EE, ME or ISE preferred)
- Knowledge of vehicle dynamics
- Understanding of modern controls techniques and theory
- Knowledge of MathWorks Matlab, Simulink and Stateflow
- Familiarity with data acquisition instrumentation concepts
- Familiarity with electrical engineering concepts including embedded microcontroller software/controls
- Knowledge of debugging, testing, and verification techniques
- Outstanding technical problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work with team members of other disciplines or departments
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Familiarity with common computer applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- Exposure and/or experience with ISO26262
- Exposure and/or experience with Automotive Cyber Security standards
- Exposure and/or experience with design for EMC
- Exposure and/or experience with ECU manufacturing
- Exposure and/or experience with ECU validation
