Position Summary
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Vehicle Algorithm Engineer to support the development and validation of advanced chassis control systems for next-generation vehicle platforms. This role will focus on the design, implementation, calibration, and optimization of vehicle dynamics control algorithms related to suspension, braking, and integrated chassis systems.  The ideal candidate will possess strong experience in vehicle dynamics, control theory, model-based development, and embedded control systems within automotive applications. This position will collaborate closely with OEM customers, systems engineering, software development, calibration, and vehicle testing teams to deliver high-performance vehicle control solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and tune vehicle control algorithms for active and semi-active suspension, braking, and chassis control systems
  • Support control strategy development for ride, handling, stability, and comfort performance objectives
  • Create and maintain control models using MATLAB/Simulink and model-based development methodologies
  • Perform algorithm validation through simulation, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), and vehicle testing activities
  • Analyze vehicle dynamics data and optimize controller performance using test results and customer feedback
  • Collaborate with embedded software engineers to support algorithm implementation into production ECUs
  • Support system integration activities involving CAN communication, sensors, actuators, and vehicle networks
  • Work directly with OEM engineering teams to support requirements development, issue resolution, and vehicle performance evaluations
  • Participate in root cause analysis and troubleshooting of vehicle-level and system-level issues
  • Support development in compliance with automotive functional safety and cybersecurity requirements
  • Document algorithm designs, calibration procedures, validation results, and engineering reports

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in automotive controls, vehicle dynamics, or embedded algorithm development
  • Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics fundamentals including ride, handling, steering, braking, and suspension systems
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and model-based design
  • Experience developing control algorithms for automotive applications
  • Knowledge of CAN communication protocols and automotive networking
  • Familiarity with HIL/SIL simulation environments
  • Experience analyzing vehicle test data and calibration activities
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Controls, Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering
  • Experience with active suspension, semi-active damping, ESC, brake-by-wire, steer-by-wire, or integrated chassis control systems
  • Familiarity with AUTOSAR architecture and embedded software integration
  • Experience with Vector tools including CANoe or CANalyzer
  • Knowledge of ISO 26262 functional safety processes
  • Experience with dSPACE, ETAS, CarSim, or IPG CarMaker
  • Understanding of state estimation, Kalman filtering, or advanced control methodologies
  • Experience supporting OEM customer programs
  • Exposure to electric vehicle chassis control systems
