Description

Our client is hiring a Commercial Plumbing Service Technician to join their Commercial Services team. In this field-based role, you’ll inspect, diagnose, repair, and install commercial-grade plumbing systems, fixtures, and components across a variety of commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities. Projects may include service repairs, preventative maintenance, retrofits, tenant improvements, and light construction work.  This position requires strong troubleshooting abilities, technical expertise, and a customer-focused mindset to support office buildings, retail spaces, restaurants, medical facilities, and other commercial properties throughout the DC metropolitan area.

Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Diagnose and repair commercial plumbing issues including leaks, clogged drains, low water pressure, and fixture malfunctions
  • Perform preventative maintenance on water heaters, boilers, piping systems, and plumbing fixtures
  • Install, repair, and maintain commercial toilets, sinks, faucets, grease traps, water filtration systems, and sensor-operated fixtures
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replace large commercial water heaters and plumbing system components
  • Perform complex leak detection and temperature troubleshooting
  • Complete small-scale commercial construction, retrofit, and tenant improvement projects
  • Ensure all work complies with local plumbing codes, safety regulations, and company standards
  • Communicate with clients regarding repair options, system issues, and service recommendations
  • Maintain accurate service records, inventory, invoices, and daily job documentation
  • Manage inventory, tools, and materials within assigned company vehicle
  • Participate in on-call rotations for emergency commercial plumbing service
  • Work independently, alongside Apprentices, or collaboratively with other mechanics and field teams
  • Support and mentor Apprentices through hands-on training and guidance

Qualifications
 

  • Valid Journeyman or Master Plumbing & Gas License required
  • Current Backflow Certification preferred
  • 5+ years of commercial or industrial plumbing experience
  • Strong knowledge of pipefitting, water distribution systems, and DWV systems
  • Experience working with copper, PVC, cast iron, and commercial-grade plumbing materials
  • Proficiency with pipe cutters, threaders, ProPress machines, soldering torches, and related plumbing tools
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to lift heavy materials, work in confined spaces, and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record
